As the cases of Coronavirus continue to soar across the world, people are taking every precaution they can to protect themselves against the deadly virus. Here is our bit from BeULifeStyle to help you protect yourself and the safeguard the community.
A handbag is a woman’s best friend, her companion as
she battles through each day carrying all she needs. What many handbag users
don’t realize is the germs that their arm candy might be carrying too! From
exposure to toilet floors, kitchen counters and public transportation to name a
few.
90% of the handbags
contain grossly high levels of bacterial contamination. Just 2% of women clean
their bags once a month and a whopping 80% have never emptied their bag for a
good clean up.
When you think about how handbags are handled, it’s
easy to see how these germs could be transferred onto other surfaces and cause
contamination. It’s enough to make you want to start undertaking a regular Bag
Clean regime.
SCIENTIFIC TESTS HAVE EVEN PROVEN THAT A HANDBAG CAN CARRY MORE BACTERIA THAN YOUR AVERAGE TOILET SEAT.
A study by Initial Washroom Hygiene shows that bags
provide the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow and spread, due to their
spongy texture. So it really makes sense to give your handbag and purse a
regular clean to ensure that they are both bacteria free and kitchen surface
friendly.
Top Tips to Keep your Bag Clean:
1. If you carry food and drink in your handbag (Sling bag or Tote bag), keep it in a sealed container to avoid any spillages.
2. Empty your handbag out regularly (ensure you check any pockets), then shake out the dirt and any bits of rubbish inside.
3. Store in a cool dry and clean surroundings, stuffed with tissue paper. Keep the bag in a dust cover when not in use to maintain the shine and keep looking like new.
4. Make it a habit to wipe down your bag once in a while with a damp cloth so the stains don’t become permanent. Whatever you do, don’t use a baby wipe to clean any dirt off your handbag or purse, as these can damage the finish.
5. Swap out your bags from time to time! The more you use one bag the more worn it is going to be. So be sure to rotate your bags regularly to prevent this from happening.
